Sources from the Guangzhou Baiyun Mountain Scenic Area Bureau said that a Cherry Blossom Festival, China's grandest one boasting 12,008 cherry trees of seven to eight categories, is to be held between February 4th and March 23rd at the Sculpture Square.
Currently, the campus of Wuhan University in Weihan of Hubei Province and Yuyuantan Park in Beijing are China's two places famous for cherry blossoms which used to attract lots of visitors from Guangzhou. What's more, some Guangzhou citizens even fly to enjoy cherry blossoms in Japan. However, the festival will provide them a valuable chance to get direct access to such beautiful flowers.
The festival will last for fifty days with various cherry trees like P.lannesiana Sekiyama, P.lannesiana Alborosea and some that are rare even in Japan.
Together with the festival will be some other programs including dances, a photographic competition and a cuisine festival. Besides, famous Sumo wrestlers from Japan will performance for visitors.
The price for the festival will increase to RMB40 per person which has been approved by price control administrations. Other relevant preferential policies will remain the same.
