Beijing Olympic Torch Relay Officially Started
President Hu Jintao officially launched the Beijing Olympic torch relay yesterday(Mar 31st) at Tiananmen Square, marking the start of the torch's 130-day global tour before the 2008 summer Olympics in August. The Olympic torch's global trip has ignited the Olympic passion of Guangzhou citizens. Many people are considering where and how to witness the Beijing Olympic Games and how to offer support when the torch arrives in Guangdong. Our journalist Yu Sulin has more.
With the arrival of the Olympic flame on May 7th, Guangzhou citizens said they will take concrete action to support the torch relay.
"Witnessing the torch pass through Guangzhou is a great opportunity to support the Olympic Games. Why not go? I will go to Beijing lu to witness this great event because Beijing lu symbolizes the path to Beijing."
Because Doha's 15th Asian Games torch relay was held in Guangzhou last year, most citizens are psychologically prepared to deal with traffic control during the days of the torch relay, but hope the traffic control plan can be more precise.
"I hope Traffic authorities can inform citizens about the areas closed off or when and where the torch will pass through."
Guangzhou's Third Price-limited Housing Project to Launch
Guangzhou's third price-limited housing project, Zhonghai Jin'sha'xin'yuan, will accept on-line registration for purchase tomorrow (April 2nd), offering 250 units at 6,150 yuan per square meter. The registry will end on April 22nd.
Sound Proof Windows to be Installed Along Guangzhou Highways
At the end of this year, residents living along Guangzhou's major overhead bridges will get a relief from the noise once sound-proof windows are installed on the bridges. The residents will also enjoy a free installment service for sound-proof windows in their homes.
