Chinese President  Leaves For State Visit to Japan
At the invitation of the Japanese government, Chinese President Hu Jintao left Beijing this morning for a state visit to Japan lasting from today until May 10th. Prior to his departure, Hu said that the visit was aimed at enhancing mutual trust, friendship and cooperation; making programs for the future; and comprehensively pushing forward bilateral strategic and reciprocal relations.


Traffic Control Implemented for GZ Torch Relay
The Olympic torch relay will be held tomorrow (May 7th) starting in Guangzhou. Traffic control will be implemented in the sections of the city where the torch will pass, and citizens are advised to minimize the use of cars. Also, ten selected stops on the metro lines will only allow passengers to enter, but not exit.

1,692 Cases of Hand-Foot-Mouth Disease Found in Guangdong
As of 10 o'clock yesterday (May 5th), a total of 1,692 cases of hand-foot-mouth disease have been reported in Guangdong.

Dolphins to Receive Official Protection
The country's first protection base for the Indo-Pacific hump-backed dolphin, known as "the panda in the sea", held a ground-breaking ceremony in Zhuhai's qi'ao island today (May 6th). 80% of Indo-Pacific hump-backed dolphins live in the mouth of the Pearl River. Guangdong experts began research on the Indo-Pacific hump-backed dolphin 10 years ago.
