 Guangdong Adopts New Labor and Industry Strategy

Guangdong will adopt a new strategy known as "double transfers" to maintain sustainable development. The strategy features transferring labor-intensive industry from the Pearl River Delta to less developed regions in the north, east and west of the province. At the same time, workers from those less developed areas will be encouraged to work in local manufacturing and service industries, or find employment in the more advanced Pearl River Delta. Nearly 50 billion yuan will be allocated to realize the strategy over the next five years. The province will select three industrial transfer zones every year to accommodate labor-intensive manufacturers. 

 

Guangdong Constructs Earthquake Housing

As of three p.m. yesterday(May 29th), Guangdong has constructed temporary housing covering 11,700 square meters in disaster-hit Sichuan province.

 

Earthquake Kids Arrive in Time for Children's Day

The first group of eight children, who had been left behind in their rural villages when their parents migrated to cities for work, flew in last night to Guangzhou from disaster-hit areas in Sichuan. They enjoyed a family gathering with their parents before the June 1st Children¡¯s Day, during which they are scheduled to study in schools here.

 

 

Digital TV on the Rise in GZ

It is expected that by the end of June, a million households in Guangzhou will be watching digital TV. Currently, the coverage of digital TV has reached 980,000 households.
