China's US Policy Remains Unchanged, Hu Tells Rice

President Hu Jintao told visiting US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice yesterday that relations between China and the United States were at a "crucial stage" linking the past to the future. Hu added that "Whatever changes take place in the United States and the international situation, our guideline of developing constructive, cooperative relations with the United States remains unchanged."

 

 

China First Express Railway to Begin Month-Long Trial

China's first express intercity railway will undergo a one-month trial beginning today(July 1)on the line between Beijing and Tianjin. The Beijing-Tianjin express railway line is the country's first self-developed express railway, capable of speeds exceeding 300 kilometers per hour. The 115 km journey is claimed to only take 27 minutes. The express service is scheduled to begin on Aug 1.

 

Landslide Derails Passenger Train in South China, 7 Injured

A passenger train from Guangzhou to Chongqing derailed due to a landslide yesterday(Jun 30) in South China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. Seven people were slightly injured and the link between Guangxi and Guangdong Province was cut off.
