Arabic TV to Spotlight Guangdong's Opening Up The Dubai-based Arab Asia Business TV (AABTV), a satellite TV operator owned by overseas Chinese in the UAE, will produce a TV series to mark the 30-year anniversary of Guangdong's opening up. The programs, supported by the Information Office of the Guangdong People's Government, will cover 30 business people and famous brands from Guangdong, then broadcast them in 21 Arabic Countries across the Middle-east and North Africa. The two sides inked the cooperation this afternoon (July 3).
Norwegian Consulate General Inaugurated in Guangzhou The Royal Norwegian Consulate General was formally inaugurated today (July 3) in Guangzhou, becoming the 33rd foreign consulate-general in Guangdong's capital city. The Norwegian Minister of the Environment and International Development Erik Solheim attended the ceremony and announced the official opening, witnessed by top local leaders including Guangdong governor Huang Huahua. Guangdong Governor Huang Huahua said, in 2007, the trade volume between Guangdong and Norway reached 655 million USD, an increase of 24% over the previous year. He is confident that the bilateral link will be further strengthened with the opening of the new office. Norwegian Consul-General Tormod C. Endresen revealed the consulate's ambition to explore cooperation opportunities in South China. "I think we are looking forward to cooperating with South China in offshore oil and gas exploration, in the marine sector and also in environmental technology. " Endresen said the consulate has not yet started visa service.
Shares See Red, 1400 Stocks up Chinese shares rebounded strongly today (July 3), with 1400 stocks on the Shanghai and Shenzhen stock exchanges seeing red. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose by nearly 100 points and closed at 2703, while the smaller Shenzhen Component Index rose by 2.58%.
