Foreign Athletes Praise the Beijing Games

Stepping into the Olympic main stadium with exciting music and 90 thousand spectators, to witness the infighting of the sacred flame was the most stirring moment for athletes from all over the world during the grand opening ceremony of Beijing Olympic Games. Our journalist Zheng Yun takes a closer look.

Anna, an Israeli swimmer, not present, also explained her excitement after watching the live broadcast,"It was amazing; several thousand performers act the same movements without any shortcomings. They must have prepared for a long time. They are splendid."

 

 

 

Tickets to Shanghai Expo on Sale Next Month 

According to the Shanghai local government, tickets to the 2010 Shanghai World Expo will be on sale from Sept. 28 at the price of 160 yuan (about 23.5 U.S. dollars) per set. Discounts are available for seniors, students, children and servicemen for day and night shows.  So far, 214 countries and international organizations have confirmed their participation for the event and 60 have signed contracts.

 

Free Weekend Courses at Baiyun Mountain

Starting this Saturday there will be free weekend recreational and sporting classes held at Baiyun Mountain. The courses will be conducted by 11 experienced and respected teachers. Courses cover a variety of subjects including Ballroom dancing, Tai Ji Quan, Yueju Opera, martial arts, Chinese traditional folk dance and so on.

 

High Temperatures Hit Guangdong

According to provincial Metrological authorities, Guangdong province will be sunny and hot in next few days due to air pressure depression. High temperatures will reach 35-36 degrees in middle and eastern, as well as western areas of Guangdong province.
