Expert: China July Financial Data Shows Obvious Outflow of Hot Money
According to data from People's Bank of China, Chinese mainland banks received 5.6 billion U.S. dollars in foreign exchange deposits in July, compared with 11.9 billion dollars in June. Less than the 8.336 billion U.S. dollars of foreign direct investment (FDI) and 25.28 billion dollars of trade surplus was actually used in July. The gap and monthly decline point to an outflow of short-term speculative funds, or hot money. This is partly due to the rise of the U.S. dollar over the past couple weeks.
China Clinches the Gold and Silver in Women's 200m Butterfly
China's Liu Zige won the women's 200m butterfly gold medal; Chinese Jiao Liuyang took silver at 2:04:72. They both smashed the world record set by Australia's Jessicah Schipper in 2006 who, in Beijing, took home the bronze.

Yang Wei Crowned in Men's Gymnastics Individual All-around Event
China's gymnast Yang Wei won the men's all-around title, defeating runner-up Kohei Uchimura of Japan. Caranobe Benoit of France settled for Bronze. It's also China's second men's all-around gymnastics title after Li Xiaoshuang at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

Du Li Wins Women's Rifle 3 Positions Gold Medal
Du Li staged a comeback after Saturday's failure, breaking the Olympic record in the women's 50-meter rifle three position. Katerina Emmons from the Czech Republic nailed the silver and Cuban shooter Eglis Yaima Cruz won the bronze.

Partial Lunar Eclipse to Occur on August 17th
The Guangdong Astronomical Society forecasts a lunar eclipse in the early morning of August 17th. Weather permitting, the eclipse can be viewed all over China. Reports say that only in Keshi district of Xinjiang can the whole process of the eclipse be seen, while most parts in East China may have limited visibility.
