More Funds to Strengthen Guangdong's Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation

To strengthen Guangdong's Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, 230 million yuan in funds will be added to strengthen partnerships. Wan Qingliang, the vice governor said at a provincial working conference yesterday. The special fund has now reached more than 700 million yuan for the whole year.

Guangdong's Volunteers in Water Cube

Some 1.7 million volunteers are participating in the Beijing Olympics. As one of the earliest and the most mature bases of volunteers' services, 78 volunteers from Guangdong are undertaking the task at the Water Cubic. Chang Zhifeng takes a closer look.

Jiang Wei, the leader of the Guangdong volunteer team said, the volunteers are selected from colleges and universities in Guangdong, and they all serve at the Water Cubic, being one of the most important venues of Beijing Olympic Games, he said,

"Our volunteers speak Cantonese, which will bring more comfort to overseas Chinese audiences who came back to watch the games. Moreover, we are ahead among the volunteer teams in China, with the support of the government and our own efforts."

Yang Sen, who has been a volunteer for eight years and was one of the torchbearers in Guangzhou, shares his opinion about the management of the volunteers,

"The Olympics involves the management of thousands of volunteers. It provides some good experiences about the management of the volunteer team for us."

The Guangdong volunteers have received praise from all, just as Jiang Wei said,

"The venue director of Water Cubic sang high praise for us. He gave credits for our excellent job."
