PRD Established to be the Modern Industrial Demonstration

China to Get Key Oil Bases by Year End

China will complete the construction of its first four strategic oil reserves by the end of this year, a senior government official said yesterday. According to the administrator of the National Energy Administration (NEA) at a press conference in Beijing, The progress has been smooth the total capacity will amount to 16.4 million cu m. China started to build its strategic oil reserves in 2004, in order to fend off the risk of oil shortages and reduce the impact of oil price fluctuations. The first four reserves, located in Dalian, Qingdao, Ningbo and Zhoushan, are expected to maintain strategic oil reserves equivalent to 30 days of imports in 2010.

Eight Minutes of London Expected At Olympic Closing Ceremony

The closing ceremony of 2008 Beijing Olympic Games will be held on August 24. London, the next city to host the Olympic Games are preparing for the "8 minutes of London" performance during the closing ceremony. Jimmy Page from Led Zeppelin and Leona Lewis are invited to perform at the ceremony. World renowned sports star David Beckham has confirmed to give a performance at the ceremony. He will kick a football from a Double Decker bus which represents the invitation from Britain.

New Social Development Shows Results

In order to improve people's livelihood and develop a social security system in both urban and rural areas, 66 effective measures were introduced one year-ago. After half a year's investigation and research, 17 more measures covers 7 categories including social security, medical security, and medical assistance as well as housing security system to benefit more people. After its implementation of the 17 measures, the total benefit for citizens will reach 15.5 million people.

Nuri Expected in Three Days

According to the provincial metrological authorities, hot and sunny weather will continue over the next three days in Guangzhou with most areas in Guangdong province, due to the strengthened air pressure depressions. The 12th tropical storm of this year - Nuri is moving in a northwesterly direction with a speed of 25km per hour. It will not affect Guangdong province for around three days.
