Second Round of Double Transfer Begins
Guangdong is expected to continue the industrial transfer zone selection after the first round was launched on August 5th by means of competitive bidding, with further discussions for the fiscal support. An announcement was made by Guangdong Governor Huang Huahua at a conference aiming to accelerate Guangdong's strategy of double transfer, whereby transferring labor-intensive industries from the Pearl River Delta to less developed regions in the province. Huang Huahua also said Guangdong will continue to provide fiscal support as more zones are selected these two years.
It is expected that a total of 15 such industrial transfer zones for trials purposes across Guangdong will be selected out by the end of 2009. The competition will be conducted in four rounds, one by the years end, three next year.
Nuri is Expected to Hit Guangdong
The12th tropical storm of this year - Nuri, the strongest typhoon so far, is expected to hit Guangdong and bring heavy showers on Friday and Saturday.
Renewed Financing for Key Projects
Guangzhou's infrastructure projects will welcome financing, as Guangzhou Government yesterday(Aug 19th) passed a reform proposal, which initiated a fund raising solution for seven key infrastructure projects, including Guangzhou metro and Asian Games city. Professional corporations for investment and financing for the projects will be established. Most of the infrastructure projects now are financed by the local government.
