Theory on Union Negotiations Comes Out

A collaborated research report from Guangzhou University and Guangzhou General Union on Guangzhou's Collective Wage Negotiation (collective wage consultation, labor negotiation system for determining employs wages) was completed recently. It stresses that the awkwardness between agents during negotiations is currently the biggest system obstacle while indicating a possible solution. Journalist Liu Yuanfei takes a closer look.

Researcher and vice president of Guangzhou Development Academe of Guangzhou University, Mr.Xie Jianshe said:

"Legally, both sides of the union on behalf of workers and enterprises' operators are equal entities in the wage negotiation. However it is different in the actual processes."

The report advised that, wage negotiation between the General Union and counterpart enterprise organizations will change results. The General Union has high-level personnel in league, economy, and negotiation skill who could master policy.

It may not work under the existing legal regime. Mr.Chen Weiguang, President of Guangzhou General Union said:

"Collective Wage Negotiation now we are tring to carry out is facing the system obstacle. General has no place in the trade union constitution. We have no support from league and system."

China Corporate Goods Prices up 0.7% in July Month-on-month

According to the People's Bank of China yesterday, the Chinese corporate goods price (CGP) index, also called the wholesale price index, which reflects the price change of products traded among corporations and traces overall price fluctuation together with the consumer price index, rose 0.7 percent month-on-month in July. The CGP index rose 9.4 percent year-on-year.

Moon Cakes for Wenchuan
