Chinese Central Authorities Congratulate Olympians on Superb Performance at Beijing Games

By scoring the best ever result at the Beijing Olympic Games, Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and the State Council, China's cabinet jointly send a congratulatory message to Chinese delegation, highly praising Chinese athletes on their "achievement of a major historic breakthrough" and "significant contributions" to the Games. The Chinese sports delegation has demonstrated sportsmanship and the Olympic spirit both in and out of the competition grounds, revealing to the world the Chinese nation's unyielding spirit, solidarity and pursuit of peace and progress, said the message.

IOC Officials Highly Praised Beijing Olympic Games

The 2008 Beijing Olympic Games ended with a grand closing ceremony last night. IOC officials highly praised the Games. IOC President Jacques Rogge said at the press conference prior to the closing ceremony:

"The International Olympic Committee is extremely pleased by the organization of the Games. The BOCOG has really put the athletes in the center of these Games. We have the splendid village..."

The president of Beijing Olympic Broadcasting Company Mr.Manolo Romero said:

"The transportation was fantastic. The accommodation was very good. I think technology also did a very good job in operating the information system that is necessary for the Games..."

FIFA President Mr. Joseph. S. Blatter said, "It was amazing, because of the exceptional opening ceremony..."

The International Table Tennis Federation (ITTF) president, Adham Sharara said, "The city is very nice. The buildings are very nice. All the spectators are very close to the action."

London Stages Eight-minute Olympic Handover /Performance

An eight-minute performance prepared by London was staged in the closing ceremony of the Beijing Olympic Games last night. A big red double-decker bus, marking "London-Beijing-London," ran into the Bird¡¯s Nest and started the eight-minute London performance. British singer Leona Lewis, guitar player Jimmy Page and David Beckham, the world famous sports star performed in the eight-minute London performance.
