Renewed Oil Investment to Reach Guangdong

China National Offshore Oil Corporation will increase investment in Guangdong, an announcement made yesterday morning(Aug 25th) during a meeting between Secretary of Guangdong CPCC Committee Wang Yang and the oil company's delegation, led by its General Manager Fu Chengyu. Last year total investment reached 97 billion yuan in Guangdong alone.

 

International SME Exhibition Commences in Sep.

Guangdong Economic and Trade Commission said the number of overseas exhibitors who will attend the fifth China International Small and Medium Enterprises Fair has reached expectations, with 1230 exhibition booths already booked. South Korea, as the host country of the fair, will lead a delegation of more than 250 exhibitors from nine sectors to attend the fair. It will also hold a design exhibition at the fair. The fair will commence on September 22nd in Guangzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center.

 

Redraft of Criminal Law to Halt Corruption

Secret lovers of corrupt officials too could face trial if the draft of the Criminal Law's seventh amendment is passed. Those found to have "intimate relations" with corrupt officials could be jailed for more than seven years if they are found guilty for taking advantages of such officials' positions to get bribes or make money illegally. The draft was submitted to the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee, the country's top legislature, for the first reading on Monday.
