New Tour for Consul General in Guangzhou
Yesterday (Aug. 25th) a group of foreign consulate officers from 29 Consul Generals in Guangzhou had a tour around Guangzhou, the first leg of their Guangdong tour. The tour was initiated by Guangdong Government Foreign Affairs Office, in an effort to showcase the great changes (achievements) that the Province has made after China's reform and opening up three decades ago. The Guangdong tour will also include three cities including Dongguan, Shenzhen and Huizhou.

Beijing Tour Costs Plummet
As the Beijing Olympic Games closed on Sunday (Aug. 24th), traveling to Beijing costs have plummeted to almost 50%, as the five-day trip in Beijing costs no more than 2,500 yuan, 3,000 yuan cut from the charge in the middle of this month.
Oil Infrastructure Sees Expansion
Guangdong's Maoming PetroChemical will expand its oil refining capacity from 13.5 million tons to 25.5 million as new project has been approved by the State Development and Reform Commission. The project is also one of the ten key projects for the province. It is expected that Guangdong will benefit from the project with more oil supply and reliability.
Public Transport Sees New Subsidy
Guangzhou is expected to establish a subsidy mechanism for public transport, a move meant to tackle the rising costs brought by the large margin of increase in the gas and oil prices. Guangzhou authority yesterday passed a series of the city's public transport sector, which also features an effort to accelerate reform in financing for the sector.
