NYT Journalist Visits Guangdong

Secretary of Guangdong CPC Committee Wang Yang yesterday met with the Foreign Affairs columnist for The New York Times, Thomas Friedman, author for the World is Flat. At the request of the visiting guest, Wang introduced him a series of issues related with Guangdong's sustainable development, such as the use of clean energy.

 

Guangdong Olympic Volunteers Return Home

As the 29th Beijing Olympic Games concluded, the first group of 36 Guangdong volunteers returned to Guangzhou last night (Aug 26th). 78 volunteers from the province worked for the Games, all in the Water Cube, providing services for the audience, event organization and the transportation.

 

Consulate Tour Reaches Shenzen

Today (Aug 27th), a delegation consisting of foreign consulate officers will visit Shenzhen, the third leg of their Guangdong tour which started from Monday (Aug 25th). 33 countries have established their consulate generals in Guangzhou. It is expected that the number will hit 40 by the end of this year. Countries including Peru, Israel, Chile, Yemen and Spain are planning to establish their consulates here in Guangzhou.
