Wanlu Lake Drinking Water Project Expected to Launch Soon
The Wanlu Lake Direct Drinking Water project is expected to commence with the first installations being placed in Heyuan City. Water from this facility will carry the nationally recognized; first standard water grade, indicating its quality. The conference for the project held yesterday were the need to accelerate the demonstration and construction work of the project, was seen as paramount.
Expenses Last Month Hit New High
According to the Statistics Bureau of Guangzhou Municipality, the gross industrial output value for enterprises above a designated scale in July amounted to RMB 91.51 billion, up by 13.3% over the same period of last year. Meanwhile, driven by the summer vacation, total retail sales of consumer goods hit a new high, reaching RMB 26.4 billion, up by 26.1% compared with last July.
Citywide Call Service Launched for Senior Citizens
The Communicate for Safety Call Service, also known as "Ping'an Tong," was launched citywide in Guangzhou yesterday (August 26th). The call center can arrange urgent and non-urgent services for subscribers upon demand on their mobile phone. The system is funded and operated by the local municipal government and offers various community services to senior citizens in need.

Nuclear Power Plant reaches First Phase
The first phase of construction on Guangdong's Taishan nuclear plant broke ground yesterday (Aug 26th), the fourth nuclear plant being built in the province. According to the plan, if all four nuclear plants are put into operation by 2020, it will cut coal consumption by 60 million tons, and lead Guangdong as the first province featuring the use of clean energy.
