Foreign Consuls Concludes Inspection in GD
43 foreign consuls in Guangzhou concluded their 4-day inspection in the Pearl River Delta yesterday (August 28). The delegation had an in-depth tour to Guangzhou, Dongguan, Shenzhen and Huizhou, with an aim to better understand the four cities' economic and social development. After the visit, most diplomats showed optimism to Guangdong's future development. In an interview in Chinese, Korean Consul-general Jeon Jeaman remarked that:
"I am very optimistic for Guangdong's industrial structure adjustment, because I know the government has a clear view about this issue."
In addition, many foreign consuls gave advice on Guangdong's development policy.
Japnese Consul-general Masaharu Yoshida suggested that:
"It's very important that the industrial adjustment is proceeding gradually. Sudden change will cause friction."
While the Indian consul-general Gautam Bambawale added that:
"Infrastructure construction is the most important. Without roads, it's not possible to transport cargo."

NBA Game Coming to Guangzhou
Two NBA basketball teams will play in Guangzhou on October 15, the first preseason game to be held in the southern capital city. NBA fans will be able to watch the competition between Golden State Warriors and Milwaukee Bucks, stared by Chinese player Yi Jianlian. The game will be live broadcast in over 200 countries and regions across the world.
Guangzhou Expo to Kick off Next Week
The 2008 Guangzhou Fair will open between September 5 to 8 at Guangzhou International Convention and Exhibition Center. Exhibitions will include agricultural products, food, comic and games, city public transport and medic-care facilities. Strict security checks will be conducted at the venue and cigarette lighters and liquids will be prohibited. Each entrance ticket costs 10 yuan, the same price as the last session.
