Wang Meets with Overseas Chinese Representatives, More Exchanges and Cooperation Encouraged
Secretary of Guangdong CPC Committee Wang Yang yesterday(Aug 28th) met with the overseas Chinese representatives who will attend the overseas Chinese and Guangdong's Reform and Opening up Forum. Wang said the stunning achievements that Guangdong has made is closely linked with the great supports from overseas Chinese and compatriots from Hong Kong and Macao, with their investments accounting for 70% of the total 120 billion US Dollars. The overseas Chinese, Hong Kong and Macao compatriots have also donated nearly 40 billion yuan into the charity and public undertakings. Wang hoped they can continue to bridge Guangdong with the overseas market and the introduction of talents and technology.

Foreign Consul Delegation Expected to Visit the Eastern and Western Guangdong
43 foreign consuls in Guangzhou concluded their 4-day inspection visit in the Pearl River Delta yesterday (August 28). The delegation had an in-depth tour to Guangzhou, Dongguan, Shenzhen and Huizhou, with an aim to better understand the four cities' economic and social development. Guangdong Government Foreign Affairs Office Director Fu Lang revealed, the foreign consuls delegation is expected to visit the eastern and western parts of Guangdong, less developed areas within the Province.
Paralympic Flame to Relay in SZ
The Beijing Paralympic flame will start its relay in Shenzhen tomorrow (August 30), the first destination of the "Modern China" route and the only relay city in Guangdong. The "Modern China" route, running through Shenzhen, Wuhan, Shanghai, Qingdao and Dalian, will showcase the country's achievements in its recent drive for modernization.
Guangzhou Traces History Through Antiques
Guangzhou is publicly seeking antiques to add to a new exhibition showcasing the city's past. Citizens can sell, donate or lend their antiques to the Guangzhou Urban Development Archives, an organization devoted to collecting the city's memories. They do not have to be priceless, world renowned antiques, small items such as tea cups, or pieces of old furniture are equally welcomed. The collected items will be displayed in the exhibition hall in the exhibition center of Guangzhou's Bureau of Urban Planning.
