Chinese Banks Urged to Guard against Liquidity Risks
According to Liu Mingkang, chairman of the China Banking Regulatory Commission, Chinese banks should guard against liquidity risks, market risks and operation risks in response to the U.S. subprime crisis. Shareholding commercial lenders also need to actively avert credit risks brought about by the economic slow-down.

Time to Enjoy Yangcheng Crab
This autumn, a famous variety of crab raised in Yangcheng Lake in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province, has found its way to Guangzhou. The price increased by RMB10 to RMB120, up 10% over the same period last year. Officials from the distribution association said that consumers can tell the real from the fake ones by sending the 12-digit code on a "golden ring" by SMS to a number printed on the "golden ring".
Nearly 90% Citizens Believe Guangzhou's Ecological Environment Improved in Past Two Years
The Statistics Bureau of Guangzhou Municipality performed a sample survey of Guangzhou citizens from different professions and in eight different city zones. Overall, 79.1% expressed their confidence in the "Garden City" that Guangzhou was striving to establish, while 88.7% believe that there have been certain improvements in Guangzhou's ecological environment in recent years.
First China International Comics Festival to Kick off
The first China International Comics Festival will be held from the 28th of September to the 5th of October in South China University of Technology. The festival is made up of four major activities which include two award ceremonies, an exhibition from Guangzhou, Hong Kong and Macau artists and the closing ceremony.
