Crude Oil Price to Remain Stable
Good news for Cantonese consumers: Guangdong's oil prices are expected to remain stable. Guangdong Price Control Administration announced yesterday(October 7th) that for the time being, the Province will not adjust the retail prices of gasoline and diesel fuel. Experts predict that due to the global financial crisis oil prices should remain around USD 100 guaranteeing stable prices in China.
Chongyang Festival Brings 250,000 to Baiyun Mountain
Yesterday was the traditional Chongyang Festival, which falls on the ninth day of the ninth month of the Chinese lunar calendar. On this day, Chinese people traditionally climb mountains in hope of good luck. During the past two days, Guangzhou's Baiyun Mountain received 250,000 visitors, a slight drop compared to last year.

Better Services to be Provided for Senior Citizens
Yesterday (October 7th) was the traditional Chongyang Festival, which is also a day to respect and care for the elderly, hopefully raising more awareness of the issues faced by senior citizens. The aging population in our Province is escalating; growing at a speed of 3.5% every year based on the current senior population of 9.51 million. The government is now taking new measures to provide better services to the elderly in urban and rural areas.
