China Central Bank Cuts Interest Rate, Reserve Requirement to Stimulate Economy
China's central bank announced cuts in both interest rates and in the reserve-requirement ratio, in the latest effort to boost the domestic economy amid worries over the deepening global financial crisis. The People's Bank of China said that the deposit and lending rates will be lowered by 0.27 percentage points on Thursday and the reserve-requirement ratio will be cut by 0.5 percentage points on Oct. 15.
The 2008 Air Show to be Held in Zhuhai
The 7th China International Aviation and Aerospace Exhibition will be held in Zhuhai from November 4th to November the 9th. The Airbus 380 will be on display, but whether the Shenzhou VII space-craft will be displayed at the exhibition is still in discussion.
Guangzhou to Launch a New Transportation Smartcard
Guangzhou's new monthly transportation card is to be issued on Oct. 15th. From next month onwards, card users can enjoy discounts fare on buses and on the metro.
