The ongoing Hi-Tech Fair Features Exhibits for Everyday Use from Privately-Owned Enterprises

The 10th China Hi-Tech Fair being held in Shenzhen is having 74 exhibitors from Guangdong, with 47 privately-owned enterprises, accounting for over 50% of the total. Their exhibits feature items for everyday use. Our reporter Lai Lingling has the story.

 

Guangzhou Fengyuan energy company developed a solar street light, which is being used in Kunming city and proven to be a success. Li Dequn, General manager with the company introduced,

"It will offer lighting with both solar and wind power. It will turn on at night and shut off in the day when the sun shines."

The invention is expected to be an energy-saving source for Guangdong's expressways.

 

Guangzhou to Launch New Transportation Cards to Provide More Discounts

Starting this Wednesday (Oct 15th) Guangzhou will launch the bus and metro transportation card designed for providing monthly discounted travel fares. 1,122 locations will sell the cards and provide the service for the citizens. Head with Guangzhou communication commission said today (Oct 13th), it is expected that the citizens can enjoy both bus and metro discounts on one card by next September.

 

Shenzhen to Be the Reasearch and Development Center for Aerospace

China Aerospace Science and Technology Cooperation today had a ground-breaking ceremony in Shenzhen for its aerospace international center. Upon the completion of the center, it will be the research and development headquarter for the Pearl River Delta, for the technology for civil and military use. The cooperation boasts the research and development of the Shenzhou and Long March spacecrafts.

Chinese Shares Rebounded After A Week-long Plummet
Chinese shares ended a week-long plummet and rebounded on Monday, as regional markets mostly rallied on a boost of market confidence after policy makers around the world took more bold moves to stem the financial crisis. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index gained nearly 4 percent to end at 2,073 points following a powerful rebound of bank shares in the afternoon. The Shenzhen Component Index closed at 6,571 points, up almost 3 percent.
