13 Athletes Crowned Gold on Day 2 of Athletic

The Bird's Nest housed a field of glory for the 13 athletes crowned gold medalists on Day 2 of Athletic competition, on Tuesday evening (September 9). The crowd was treated to a world record in the first track and field final of the evening, the Men's 100m T11. Lucas Prado of Brazil did what he has been doing all week, and broke his own world record (11.19 seconds).

 

Chinese athletes grasped 6 gold , making the team ranking top on the gold medal list with 16 champions. The Chinese then won another two gold medals in judo and power-lifting events.

The fourth day of play today in the Table Tennis events at the Beijing 2008 Paralympic Games sees the first medals being awarded, all in female events. The 51-year old Chinese player Zhang Xiaoling aims at setting the record of her sixth consecutive gold medal.

 

In the water cube, all eyes will be on Daniel Dias of Brazil, who will be going for his fourth gold medal of the Games in the Men's 50m Butterfly - S5.

 

At the Olympic Green Tennis Center, David Wagner of the United States will meet Shraga Weinberg of Israel in the Quad Singles quarterfinal, in what could be a close match.

 

At the HK Equestrian (Shatin) Venue, Peng Yulian from Guangdong's Zhanjiang City, the only equestrian athlete from China, will make his last appearance at the competition.
